Starting from Horton in Ribblesdale, this hike starts with a steady climb up Pen-y-ghent, taking time to enjoy the views and walk together at a relaxed pace. We’ll also visit Hull Pot, one of the area’s most striking limestone features, and chat about the landscape, geology, and history along the way. Expect classic Dales scenery, good company, and a friendly, encouraging atmosphere throughout.ACAI are offering a special discount code* to all participants so you can treat yourself to something from their incredible range of women's outdoor wear! Discount codes and goody bags will be given out upon arrival at the meeting place.Distance: 10km/6milesAscent: 470m/1500ft*Level of difficulty: Easy/Moderate/Challenging - The majority of the hike is moderate level, but the last part of the climb to the summit is fairly steep and rocky terrain with some exposure. I’ve always been outdoorsy since being a young girl but hiking became a real obsession in 2019 when I started to go solo. I aim to inspire other women to learn the many benefits of exploring in the outdoors and I’m passionate about sharing my love for adventure with you!Transport:We'll be meeting at Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Settle BD24 0HG Google Maps which is around £7 to park all day using card or cash (correct at time of typing).We will meet at 9.15am, ready to set off at 9.30am.What to bring:Hiking boots or trail shoes with ankle supportPkenty of snacks/lunchRucksackWater (at least 1L)Waterproofs and warm layersHat and glovesSun hat/sun creamA small first aid kit with any personal Medic*tionSit mat, hot drink, walking poles (optional extras)Terrain:Mostly trails and footpaths, with one short section of steep, rocky and uneven terrain. Toilets:There are public toilets at the car park but none along the way on the walk so we may have to embrace the good old ‘wild wees’ whilst we’re out! There are plenty of little hidden spots for us to squat in private!Safety:The whole point of the walk is to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone so we will keep to a steady pace to suit the group. It's about taking in the views, learning about the history and geology of the area and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns. Everyone will be asked to complete a medical form a few days before the event.I am a qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:Dogs are welcome to come along, but they must stay on lead for the entire walk to ensure the safety of the group.Refund Policy:This is a free walk but spaces are extremely limited and there will be a waiting list.
